Probably not your fault but the UPS delivery guy left the package hanging on the street mailbox which is not the usual delivery spot. The mailbox is 75 yards from the front of the house and is to far away to see so all the packages are delivered to the front of the house. So it was a hot day and it took me a while to figure out where they had been left. I immediately opened the box and put them in my compost and dirt pile. It took a few minutes for those that were not dead to start moving. So I'm disappointed. Next time I buy some I will schedule with you a time and I will come and pick them up myself if there is a next time.
Hi Larry,
We’re sorry you were disappointed, but we do want to clarify the delivery circumstances.
Your order was shipped and delivered by USPS, not UPS. USPS marked the package delivered at/near your mailbox, and immediately following delivery you received both a delivery notification email and a direct text message from Lumbri Worms & Garden advising you to retrieve the live worms ASAP. The text also specifically warned that leaving the worms outside would void the live-arrival warranty.
Because these are live animals and temperature-sensitive, prompt retrieval after carrier delivery is required. As stated in your review, the package remained outside for a period of time before you located and opened it.
Unfortunately, we cannot control the exact location where USPS chooses to leave a package once delivery is made. We made every reasonable effort to notify you immediately so the worms could be brought inside promptly.
For that reason, worms affected after remaining outdoors following confirmed delivery would not qualify for replacement under our live-arrival policy.
We are glad to hear that some of the worms began moving after being placed into your compost. Local pickup is certainly available for future orders if you prefer to avoid carrier delivery.

Compared next to down to Earth. This had impressive results fast
They did great in my raised bed.
The worms were all dead. As soon as I received the text that the package was delivered, I rushed home (10-15 mins) and opened to introduce them to the compost and both orders of red wigglers were dead and warm in temperature. An ice pack was present but was warm as well and not large enough to keep anything cool. I’ve ordered live animals through mail before and companies went above and beyond to make sure they arrived alive. I’ve sent Lumbri an email addressing this issue with no response. So I literally just gave strangers 70 bucks for 2,000 dead worms.
Robert, we’re sorry to hear about your experience. Considerable time and care go into raising, preparing, and shipping our live worms.
USPS shows your order was delivered to your front door/porch at 1:25 PM on August 6. At 1:28 PM—only three minutes later—we personally texted you advising that the worms needed to be retrieved immediately and could not safely remain outdoors.
While you state the package was retrieved 10–15 minutes later, we cannot independently verify how long it remained outside or the worms’ condition at the time of delivery.
Our published Live Arrival Guarantee requires prompt retrieval and dead-arrival claims within 2 hours with photos/video and the shipping label. You also had our direct business cell number, and we were available to assist immediately. We have been unable to locate the email referenced in your review.
We stand behind our worms and apply our published policy fairly to every customer.
